What a surreal journey we have all walked from March 2020 to now.
We’ve all been through so many stages… From the TP and disinfecting wipe shortages, in-depth tutorials on handwashing techniques to the baking sourdough/banana bread while wearing nothing but sweatpants phases.
Remember the banging pots and pans to thank healthcare workers, and looking up YouTube tutorials on how to cut hair?
We’ve endured a myriad of contradictory feelings, and now that the vaccine rollout is happening in earnest, we can truly cast our gaze to the future in a more real way and imagine who we might be and what we will do in the “After”.
These parting words from a Fast Company column really touched me:
“You will design your new life. You will grieve your old one.
You will wake up one morning and go the entire day without thinking about the pandemic or the year that you lost your mind.
You will notice someone wearing a face mask for the first time in a while and it will destroy you.
You will never unlearn the things you now know about yourself, about how you handle an emergency and what you can withstand.
You will be okay. You will not be okay. You will be you. You won’t.”
One of the best ways we know of to mark an occasion of transition is through interactive and engaging experiences, whether virtual and SOON Live. Beating on a collective drum; team bonding/building/dynamics activities or doing some zentangle -yoga for the mind. Our ancestors knew it and your organization can know it too.
